My BFF's mom has sudden onset dementia due to anesthesia, with bilateral cerebral atrophy in the frontal lobes. She also has chronic pain from failed back surgery. Mom's home is in Westmoreland, but she is now living in Allegheny county (Monroeville.) Are there any local resources for respite, adult day or other care?
And how might she pursue speech therapy for a language deficit (word finding.) She has been assessed for stroke but that was negative. She has periods of clarity, and then complete confusion. Sometimes she just cannot find words.

I'll be moving back to the Pgh area and will need to make arrangements for my mother's care. What would be the best way to approach finding out what options are available?

My parents are older and they want to stay in their home. They live by themselves they have a son who lives with them part time . I have a child and a disabled husband so it is difficult for me to be there 24-7. My question is: is there anyone out there that can come to their home who is honest, and would help them a few days a week, and keep an eye on them when my brother and I can't be around?
