My BFF's mom has sudden onset dementia due to anesthesia, with bilateral cerebral atrophy in the frontal lobes. She also has chronic pain from failed back surgery. Mom's home is in Westmoreland, but she is now living in Allegheny county (Monroeville.) Are there any local resources for respite, adult day or other care?
And how might she pursue speech therapy for a language deficit (word finding.) She has been assessed for stroke but that was negative. She has periods of clarity, and then complete confusion. Sometimes she just cannot find words.

Is there a program where someone can visit a senior who is homebound and really just needs some company? Like an hour or two every other day would be perfect!

My mother in law has huntington disease in early stage. She is fully functional and living alone but has slipped into a serious depression despite medications. She is 61 years old and not quite ready for a nursing facility but cannot live alone anymore. She is presently on Disability. There is no money that can be paid towards a Personal Care facility. What are my options for her?
