My Grandmother Needs 24/7 Care

by Admin 2. April 2009 10:29
My grandmother is getting out of the hospital in a few days and the doctor says she needs 24/7 care. I don't know where to turn and her income is not even close to covering a nursing home. Can someone give me some advice?

Ask to talk to the hospital social worker in charge of your grandmother's discharge. If your grandmother has Medicare or Medicaid coverage, and needs to be in a nursing home or a rehabilitation facility, the insurance might at least pay for a certain length of time in the facility. The social worker should also be able to tell you about low income programs that she could apply for that would help her afterwards if she comes home.
